A word which is used to connect two words, phrases or sentences is known as a conjunction.
Ram and Shyam were playing together.
Types of conjunction
1. Coordinating conjunction: A word which is used to join two nouns, verbs, adjectives, phrases, and even independent clauses. There are a total of seven coordinating conjunctions and the best way to memorize these seven coordinating conjunctions is through the acronym “FANBOYS.”

A: And
N: Nor
B: But
O: Or
Y: Yet
S: So
For (के लिए) Preposition
For (क्योंकि) Conjunction
For example
For he is not well, he is absent today..
Both the friends and their parents are going to the village.
I didn’t go there, nor did my friend.
Not Rahul but Amit does this work everyday.
You can do this or that.
He is not ready yet he wants to visit the Taj Mahal.
He was feeling very hungry so he wanted to eat more food.
2. Subordinating conjunction: It refers to those conjunctions that introduce an independent clause to join it later with a dependent clause.
For example
If, when, as soon as, as long as, until, unless, while, since, because, whenever, wherever, etc.
If you work hard (dependent clause), you will pass (independent clause).
3. Correlative conjunction: It refers to those pairs of conjunctions which are used to connect two parts of sentence with two equally important phrases or clauses.
For example
Either-or
Neither-nor
Not only-but also
Although-yet
Whether-or
Both-and
He is either a doctor or an engineer.
He is neither a doctor nor an engineer.
He is not only a doctor but also an engineer.
Although he is rich, yet he is a miser.
Whether you go there or not, I will not go there.
He is both a doctor and an engineer.
