A word which describes a verb, an adjective, another adverb, and even the whole sentence is known as an adverb.
For example
He runs fast. (describing a verb)
He is very happy. (describing an adjective)
He did it too quickly. (describing an adverb)
Unfortunately, I couldn’t do this work. (describing the whole sentence)
Now let’s know the kinds of adverb with examples
1. Adverb of manner: It refers to those adverbs which indicate how or in what way a particular action is done.
For example
Fast, slowly, beautifully, gracefully, etc.
He is walking slowly.
2. Adverb of affirmation and negation: It refers to those adverbs which tell whether something expresses a positive statement or a negative statement.
For example
Surely, no, undoubtedly, definitely, certainly, etc.
You can surely go there.
3. Adverb of time: It refers to those adverbs which tell when an action happened.
For example
Yesterday, today, tonight, tomorrow, next month, etc.
I have to go there tomorrow.
4. Adverb of degree: It refers to those adverbs that indicate the level or extent of something.
For example
Very, extremely, enormously, fully, slightly, quite, absolutely, completely, etc.
I am very happy.
5. Adverb of frequency: It refers to those adverbs that indicate how often an action takes place.
For example
Often, always, rarely, scarcely, weekly sometimes, frequently, never, etc.
I often go to my village.
6. Adverb of place: It refers to those adverbs which indicate where a particular action happens.
For example
There, here, outside, anywhere, everywhere, nowhere, inside, somewhere, etc,
Why is he going there?
